The name of the Association is: The Association of Child Psychologists in Private Practice - AChiPPP

The Association of Child Psychologists in Private Practice is to be run as a non-profit making association.

Objectives

Membership

A psychologist who provides a service for children and young people which is charged at the point of delivery and who is self-employed or employed in the non-statutory services for a regular proportion of their time.

Membership is open to psychologists who are either chartered with the BPS (British Psychological Society) or registered with the HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) and preferably both and whose sphere of work is primarily with children and young people. It is hoped that the Association will attract interest from all branches of Child Psychology e.g. Educational, Clinical, Neuropsychology, Forensic Psychology, etc.

Structure of the Association

Initial phase

Two founder members and two to four co-opted members in order to establish the Association.

Initial contact has been made with the British Psychological Society, Association of Educational Psychologists. Feedback and advice has been received and acted upon. The Association will wish to keep relevant professional Associations aware of plans and developments.

Future plans

To establish an agreed procedure for electing an Executive.

To set up an inaugural open meeting.
