The training day will focus upon the work of the Family Court. It is an introductory course and also builds on previous courses AChiPPP has run on Expert Witness Skills.
The day will include:
Jill Troy from No 6 Barristers Chambers in Leeds - a barrister with more than twenty years experience specialising in family law. Within this role Jill represents Local Authorities, parents and children in public law (care) proceedings.
Patrick Troy family solicitor - an advanced member of the Law Society Family Panel and a member of Resolution. He is also a Deputy District Judge.
Professor Jane Ireland - University accredited expert witness and represents on the Family Justice Interdisciplinary Committee and Experts Subcommittee at the Royal Courts of Justice. She is also the Chair for the BPS advisory committee on expert witnesses. Professor Ireland also provides accredited postgraduate training on expert witness skills and legal report writing
Jacqueline Siner - chartered educational psychologist and managing director of JSA Psychology, a company providing child and family psychological reports for Family Court in care proceedings and contact/residence disputes.
Dr Lorna Selfe - child psychologist and former Principal Educational Psychologist for Herefordshire.
Costs are £125 for AChiPPP members and £185 for non-members.
Membership of AChiPPP is £45 giving a £15 discount for those renewing membership. For non-members who meet the membership criteria there is a benefit/ saving in applying for membership.
